The NJCICC is alerting New Jersey universities, schools, and private-sector recreation operators to hacktivist targeting of the control systems that keep air-supported sports domes (“air-domes” or “bubble” structures) inflated and safe. On July 4, a pro-Iran hacktivist persona posted on Telegram, claiming to have compromised the environmental control system of a US indoor sports dome and publishing a live remote-desktop session into the facility’s operator interface, or Human Machine Interface (HMI), as proof.
This targeting is at least the second such claim in 2026 against this class of system. A separate hacktivist persona posted a comparable claim in February against the same type of air-dome control platform. The recurrence indicates hacktivists are actively scanning for and targeting internet-reachable dome control interfaces, whether through a shared target list, a common scanning methodology, or independent discovery of similarly exposed systems. Because multiple manufacturers and integrators build and service air-supported domes across North America, operators should assess their exposure regardless of the specific dome brand or control vendor in use.
